I was in the car with Tom and Jordan driving back to Long
Island when we discovered a very frightening scene on the border of the valley
of ashes. We found that someone had been hit by a car and it was a fatal
accident. I found out that the girl who was hit was in fact Myrtle. I heard
that a car came into the city struck her, paused, and then sped off. I then
made the connection when I heard that it was a big yellow car that it had to be
Gatsby’s. I couldn’t believe that Daisy and Jay had actually hit someone and
killed her. When I went back to Toms house I found Gatsby waiting outside. I
was infuriated because I knew that he had killed someone innocent. When I asked
him about it he told me that Daisy was the one driving and he tried to stop it
from happening but it happened all so fast there was nothing he could do. He
made me swear not to tell anyone and that he was the one to blame for the tragedy.
I told him to go home and get some rest but he wouldn’t leave Tom’s because he didn’t
want him to hurt daisy. Gatsby sent me in to check on Daisy and I saw Daisy and
Tom sitting together eating so I decided to leave Gatsby outside and go home.
